A B O U T
A tapestry woven in bleached and unbleached linen on a cotton warp.
This piece explores the structure of weaving itself. The composition is made up of connected triangles, with woven shapes echoing the exposed sections of the warp. An interlocking technique is used along the straight edges of the triangles to prevent further slits in the tapestry.
Colour-blending is used to soften the contrast between two different types of linen and to break up solid blocks of colour.
The design exposes the structure of the tapestry and the hidden warp, through the “absence” of weft.
This piece is mounted on thick mountboard, front and back.
